How I Got Unstuck and Into the Flow with a Simple Writing Prompt - and You Can, Too

Posted on the 17 September 2013 by Juliejordanscott @juliejordanscot

Free flowing writing heartI was not exactly super stuck for words today, there was just a lot swirling in my head. I knew if I followed a prompt, it would create a steady stream of thought rather than random explosions of thought in many different directions.

I skipped over to the folks at the Write Prompts who offer journaling prompts on Mondays as well as other prompt forms every day of the week. It is a resource you will definitely want to try and then revisit repeatedly.

Today I have the prompt to consider and share what is the best way to capture my heart?

It would be cool if you would write along with me. Simply respond via writing, without any thought or direction beyond the prompt itself about the best ways for your heart to be captured.

Now, with free flow writing, I came up with these ideas:

First off, the best way to capture my heart is intelligence. Intelligence with humor. Intelligence with humor and appreciation for my intelligence and humor and also it is important to have intelligence and humor about life itself and the place you occupy in life itself.

My heart is captured when people are able to tell stories with passion: an excitement or affinity for a variety of different subjects while recognizing the subject of life as it unfolds daily is the most intriguing subject there could ever be. That passion shows in the eyes – in the countenance, in the willingness to have no words to explain completely thus inviting me into the experience completely.

I place a high value on kindness to children, animals, the mentally ill, the homeless, and the developmentally different.

One of the things about journaling and/or free flow writing with a prompt is you will continue to be inspired by the prompt even if not at the conscious level. Be prepared to wake up tomorrow thinking and writing more about capturing someone’s heart or having your own heart captured.

The-Write-Prompts-MiniWho knows, you might even become a magnet for “heart hunters” or you may continue to reaffirm and praise the person who has a hold on your heart now.

Keep your pencil moving and enjoy writing.
