I Choo Choo Choose Trains

Just outside of Brockville

Train travel is simply the best. I don't care that it takes longer to get from Point A to Point B. I don't care that I'm not seeing the world from 30,000 ft+. Trains are romantic. Just imagine the Orient Express, traveling from Europe to the Middle East or the Siyabona taking you through Africa. Trains are all about the journey not the destination.

On a more practical level, trains are far more spacious and comfortable than the crammed seats on a plane. Trains take you through the scenery allowing you to really take it all in instead of rushing past. They are slow and steady without the ear popping, sinus pressure issues. The sheer avoidance of curt customs officers, bewildered security agents, baggage drop off and pick up is the icing on the cake.  Whatever I dislike about air travel, the train makes up for it. Hungry husband and I have the once-a-year Orient Express trip from Paris to Istanbul on our bucket list. Fingers crossed. I'll take the Siyabona as well. Or even a trip from Toronto to Vancouver. But until then, we'll enjoy our train trips from Toronto to Ottawa or Montreal... And today we did just that. Enjoyed a smooth ride from Toronto to Ottawa. As you can see from the pictures, it was the perfect fall day... sunny and grey, green and blue, brown and black. Although, I was trying to imagine a dawn or dusk train ride through an African Safari... Sigh.... Hope you enjoy train travel as much as I do. It's worth the ride!
