I Hate Ebooks.

Posted on the 15 May 2012 by Mikidemann @mikidemann
I gave in and bought my first ebook. I have kind of been against ebooks, because I like books. I love going into people’s homes and seeing their books, and kind of getting a sense of who they are by what they read, I also love lending books out. When I love a book so much and want my mom, my dad, my best friend, my sister in law, and my aunts’ cousin’s uncle to read the same book, and enjoy it the same as I did. You can’t do these things with ebooks, you wouldn’t lend out your kindle, nook or iPad so a friend could read, would you? Me either. You can’t really decorate your bookshelves with your reading device either. Unless you are into that ultra modern look, then maybe it would work.Any the first ebook I bought was Bossypants by Tina Fey. I had been dying to read this book since it came out, and never had made it to the book store. I was about to go to a high school soccer game, and wanted some extra entertainment, so I thought hey I have an iPad I will just buy the book, and just like that in 15 seconds I had the book on my iPad and was ready to go! (yeah yeah, don’t judge me on the 4 free ebooks that are downloaded - that baby animals book is the cutest thing ever.)photo-2012-05-15-12-40.PNGI was so excited, and for a split second thought that maybe I had misjudged ebooks, like I had twitter (sorry twitter - i love you now). However when I got my iPad out at the game I did not even open the ebook. I opened the camera, lots and lots of games and even the calendar but not the ebook. I left the game and realized I didn’t read at all bummer. This is what the iPad was actually used for at the game.photo-2012-05-15-12-40.JPGThe following weekend. I isolated myself out on the porch in the sun. I sat down with my iPad and read about 50 pages. That is the last time I have read my book. Not that it isn’t a good book, I LOVE the book, I laugh out loud while reading it. The thing is I mostly start reading because the book, the actual book taunts me. It sits on my nightstand with a candy wrapper marking my page, and I can see it. I can say oh man look I am half way done, as represented by the candy marker. But with an ebook it is hidden. I have to dodge... The Sims (best FREE game ever)1__%252524%252521%252540%252521__photo-2012-05-15-12-40.PNGother games2__%252524%252521%252540%252521__photo-2012-05-15-12-40.PNGmy blog, Facebook, twitter, pinterest and the internet entirely.3__%252524%252521%252540%252521__photo-2012-05-15-12-40.PNGPlus my husband’s iPad needs before I ever get to the book. That doesn’t work for me. So I still haven’t finished the book I have waited all year to read. Stupid ebooks!Has anyone else experienced ebook hatred?
