I Need a Challenge

Posted on the 25 November 2011 by Halinak @HalinaKema
Three of my exams are done. When you'r actually done with something that you've been looking for so badly to end, it suddenly makes you feel purposeless and exhausted. It's such a strange feeling. I imagined myself trying out new painting styles, do a photography course, and dozens of other things when I was finished. Now I just don't feel like doing any of them. I know how intimidating the beginning phases always are, and I'm afraid that this will stop me from even trying, like it usually does.
Lately I've discovered something that might help me carry through my daunting bucket list: the Day Zero Project. It's a site where you can track your own progress and follow people with the same or similar things on their bucket lists. There is also a time limit: 101 things in 1001 days- that is 3 things a month in about three years. It is completely doable.
Don't get me wrong. I do not expect that checking off my list will make me "happy". That is not the point. The point is to learn how to not let fear stop me from trying new things that I might enjoy, and to feel comfortable with the fact that I'm going to fail the first time. In general: to never stop challenging myself.
I'm curious about the rest of you. How do you challenge yourselves? What kind of challenges are on your bucket lists? Do you want to travel? Try hang gliding? Play the piano?
