If You're in a Rut Take a Drive.

I love Jared. (my husband). This doesn't mean that every second we are together I get butterflies, though. Sometimes I need to restore that "first met" feeling. I remember when we first met I would get ready for hours and hours before I'd see him. I always had butterflied the entire time we hung out. Every time he held my hand I would get sweaty, and stop watching the movie, because I was so enamored with him.
Now that we've been together 4 years, I get those same feelings, but they seemed to be drowned out with talking about budgeting, and raising a puppy (read here). So sometimes when he holds my hand, I forget to notice to take note of the sweet gestures. I need to get better at that. I need to be better at jumping back to basics, and showing Jared I love him by getting ready for hours, and kissing him goodnight. All those things are important to me.
{this is something I should love him for everyday - he did this FOR ME during a work party. I  have a good man}If you're in a rut take a drive.
Tonight Jared and I are dropping our baby girl (aka puppy) off at my moms and we are driving down to Vegas. I am so excited for this trip, not even because we will be in Vegas. When Jared and I are in the car together.. it's good. I am not sure why, but it's like our relationship sweet spot. When you're on a long drive, you don't care about instagram, facebook, twitter... they get boring after an hour, and you still have 5 hours left to go. Jared and I start to converse. Talk about work, and co-workers and family and dreams and our future and our baby puppy and her gas.. We talk about everything. It helps me feel connected to him again when we can get so disconnected in this crazy world.
My favorite is when we turn on some horrible music and dance our hearts out. We flail our arms and fist pump all down the freeway. We both end up laughing so hard, that we're about to cry.
I am ready to take that drive with Jared and his mustache. If you're in a rut take a drive.
What do you like to do with your spouse to get those "first butterflies" back?
