Image of the Day : Joie De Vivre

If I had to make a list of the best things about being a wedding photographer, then I'm sure that pretty high up that list would come 'the feeling of seeing other peoples' happiness'. There's probably a fancy word for that, but it certainly isn't on the tip of my tongue on a Monday morning! (Feel welcome to write in and let me know, if you know it). But I'm being serious.... it's such a wonderful feeling to be able to look upon the happy faces of wedding clients and their guests. You just can't help but benefit from the bonhomie in the room, to bask in the reflected glow of the good feelings all around.

That's what I feel when I look at this particular wedding photograph, shot at the lovely Maunsel House in Somerset. There is just so much joie de vivre going on in this moment, that I just break out into smiles when I remember the moment. This was taken just after the outdoor wedding ceremony, as the bride and groom lead their wedding party down the aisle and towards the house, ready for to greet their guests - and you don't need to have been there to just know that this moment was accompanied by whoops of joy!

Being a wedding photographer involves a lot of very long days, getting cold, wet and tired, carrying heavy equipment, and with relatively little financial reward for the amount of effort that goes in. But, when you get to feel THIS good on a regular basis, what's not to love?
