Indigo I Think You Have a Little Something on Your Face

If at first you don't succeed......try weaning again.
A few weeks ago I tried weaning the twins and it did not go very well at all - As in both of them projectile vomited all over me, themselves and their chairs and then screamed for a few hours. According to the dietician, this was an indication that they were not quite ready for weaning (you think!!!) due to them being premium (premature) babies...yada, yada, yada.
Anyway they will be seven months tomorrow, so under the guidance of various health people I decided to try again - with Indigo (my lovely test case).
So I mixed up a little baby rice with some of her 'fat' milk, covered everything in site with towels and put her in a FULL cover bib (I love these, thank you S). With a heart full of fear and a spoonful of baby mush and every surface covered, I was ready to proceed with my mission .
Carefully I assessed my target and how best to begin. I watched Indigo bounce around in her chair, cautiously eyeing the bowl in my hand. After a few moments of pondering and talking myself out of abandoning the idea (if you could have seen my first experience with weaning, you would understand) I decided it was best to just throw caution to the wind and go straight for the target.
Loading the spoon with mush (baby rice, one of the blandest substances known to man) and with the precision of a Ninja, I made my first attempt of feeding her. I was met by a mouth closed tighter than a politician under suspicion of ...well pretty much anything. My second try was not much better, though my clever girl let her curiosity get the better of her on the third try and opened her mouth wide enough to pop her tongue out to get a little taste of the mush set before her.
After that it was plain sailing and even though most of it ended up on her face, a fair amount was also consumed. By the end of her first proper meal Indigo was a very smiley girl and I am happy to report, she was vomit free (phew!).
Tomorrow I intend to take on the weaning challenge of River as well as feeding Indigo again. Fingers crossed that it will go as well as today.
