Is Your Extra Weight Holding You Down?

Posted on the 07 September 2015 by Vidyasury @vidyasury

Extra weight.

The moment we see or hear or think those words, the first thing that comes to mind is the physical weight we yearn to lose. Excess weight weighs us down, and gets in the way when we're trying to be productive. It makes us lethargic.

When we realize this, we get into a frenzy, trying to find ways to shed it, preferably without too much effort. We wish.

But what about that mental and emotional extra baggage we carry? The effect that has on us can be far worse because the mind is a potent thing.

Even as we work hard to make sure we eat a healthy diet, live a healthy lifestyle and maintain an healthy weight, we do not work so hard at getting rid of our mental fat or leaving our emotional baggage behind where it belongs - in the past.

What if you could go to a spa where you could not only shed your physical weight but also say goodbye to your mental weight?

Good news is, you don't have to look outside to do this.

We all tend to focus on the physical weight, probably because that's the side people can see and we feel exposed. Unfortunately the state of our minds can affect our physical health.

At some point, our emotional selves begin to show up for others to see. Some of the things we carry around? We don't even realize it. And it is highly likely that this can transform into obstacles that come in the way of achieving our goals.

Question is, How do we let go?

Can we let it go?

Mental weight is just as hard to shed as physical weight, if not harder.

Carrying it around makes us unhappy and being unhappy is not an option.

It is stressful and stress causes disease.

How to lose the stress?

Here are some thought starters:

  • Identify the source of this weight. What weighs you down? There's always a trigger and the trick is to find it. Where is the weight coming from? Who contributes to your emotional stress? Can you confront it?
  • Name it. Download it.
  • Unpack it
  • Dump it
  • Then step out and away from it.
  • Lose the victim mentality
  • Move forward and onward

Think about this:

  • Is there someone who can help you relieve your stress?
  • Can someone be affected by your mental dump?
  • Are you stressing over someone else's problem?
  • How can you take charge of your happiness?

So are you carrying around extra weight?

How much?

Does it feel good?

If not, are you going to do something about it?

What are you going to do? Is your extra weight holding you down?
