…keep Scrolling

Posted on the 11 February 2016 by Zer @the2women

OscarsIf you’ve always wished the Oscars felt more like a 24-hours news-cycle, then you’re in luck. Acceptance speeches will now include a “Thank You Scroll” at the bottom of the screen.

Because that was a necessary change. I’m sure that will avoid at least ten squabbles…and something tells me that “well I remembered you on my scrolling list” won’t make up for forgetting to actually say thank you in your acceptance speech.

The thought is that it will not only eliminate the awkward, “Oops I forgot to thank my co-star…and my wife” moments, and liven up the broadcast. I for one find it hard to believe that it will put an end to boring speeches, but I am more than willing to be proven wrong.

One things for certain. Promising your family, friends, and mentors that you’ll, “Thank then in your acceptance speech,” won’t have the same ring to it now…especially with the necessary follow-up, “Do you mean the actual speech, or the scrolling text at the bottom of the screen?”
