…Kick It Up A Notch

…Kick It Up A NotchFellow Americans, as some of you may already know, the US women’s team made it to the next round of the FIFA Women’s World Cup yesterday. That means it’s time to kick your fandom up to the next level.

Meaning, you might want to start actually paying attention to the Women’s World Cup. With the NHL and NBA Finals all wrapped up, you’re officially out of “but the game’s on” excuses.

The good news is, you have some time to prepare, the USA’s next match isn’t until Monday (7 PM CT). However, if you really want to commit, you should also show some interest in some matches before Monday. After all, we don’t know who they’re playing yet.

Tonight’s matches (6 PM CT) will determine who the U.S. will face in the round of 16. Presuming that Brazil wins or ties tonight against Costa Rica, we’ll play Colombia. Costa Rica, is a bit of wild card, and has played well in the tournament so far, so Brazil winning isn’t a certainty by any means.

Plus, there’s the fact that Brazil isn’t really playing for anything tonight, and won’t be wasting their energy on a win. If Costa Rica were to win tonight, it would bring the other match, Spain and South Korea (also at 6 PM CT), into play. In that case, if that game resulted in anything but a draw, we would play the victor of that match.

Okay, I know it’s a lot to take in, but this is way more fun that simple elimination…which is what the rest of the tournament is (in case that’s more your thing).

And anyways, the only thing you really need to know is that you want the U.S. women’s team to win, no matter who they face in the next round.

Let’s Go USA!!!
