For lovers of stupid comedies (and I say that with love) today is a momentous occasion.
After 20 years of waiting, a sequel to that stupid comedy classic, “Dumb and Dumber,” is finally arriving.
I know some of you (who may just be its target audience) are probably wondering why the so oft’ overlooked (with good reason) 2003 stupid comedy, “Dumb and Dumberer,” doesn’t count. That’s because it’s a prequel…and that’s all I have to say about that.
The stupid comedy genre (sometimes referred to as dumb comedies…and that’s not an official term, but it should be) isn’t my go-to cup of tea, but I can appreciate the significance of this moment, and the incredible juxtaposition of the final season of “The Newsroom” starring Jeff Daniels starting just days before the release of “Dumb and Dumber To” …also starring Jeff Daniels. Just try to wrap your mind around those acting skills.
So, as a tribute to the stupid comedies, which, for the record, I believe can still be great movies, I thought I’d share some of my favorite stupid comedy moments. Enjoy:
