Laundry Day

Posted on the 16 December 2014 by Rarasaur @rarasaur

We laugh at our men,

Giggling with love-natured joys.

We are strangers, but sisters-

They are just boys.

The sheet spins like white winter taffy

As we pull and wring.

Scented laundry water wrinkles us.

We sing.

The sun charms the linens into dryness, a hot, slow, and sultry wink-

We scrub stubborn suds away

From our old, white laundry sink.

We wash the soiled aftermath of life,

Working till hands blossom blisters.

We are women; together.

Strangers, yes. And sisters.

Tikkun- Hebrew; world repar.

When I stumbled upon the word "tikkun", I thought immediately of the little dedications we offer to a beautiful world. What do you think of?
