Lazy Sunday - Ben and Kate and Kylie, Too!

Posted on the 11 November 2012 by Mk1005 @MetroMoneypit
Lazy Sunday - a weekly column where I discuss my favorite lazy day indulgences - movies, television shows, books and music.
I love TV. There. I said it. I always wish I were one of those people who don't even own a TV and just spend their time reading and learning and being all cultured and stuff. Sadly, I am not. I love my shows. What can I say?
Every fall I look at the new shows and pick which ones I want to check out. This year it was slim pickins and of the two I decided to watch one has already been cancelled (so long Animal Practice, I did enjoy the Wednesdays we spent together). But the other is still going strong and I am loving it. Ben and Kate you had me at hello.

Have you check it out? If you haven't you really should. It's cute and sweet and funny and I'm totally smitten. And if you must know the deets, well...Kate is a single mom and is very responsible. Ben is her older brother who is completely irresponsible and has just moved in with her. Tommy is Ben's best friend who is completely in love with Kate. BJ is Kate's co-worker and best friend and is her polar opposite. Anything Kate would never do, BJ would do in a heartbeat. Despite all this potential for drama there really is none because everyone is fond of each other and everyone get's along. And with so many comedies on TV that are snarky and dark (don't get me wrong - I like those too) I'm glad there's something that I can watch that just makes me happy.
Now, don't worry I don't spend all my free time glued to the boob tube. As you know I'm often out and about exploring my home state. With all the time I spend in my car I'm constantly looking for new tunes. So when I had the opportunity to check out Kylie Minogue's new cd - The Abbey Road Sessions I jumped at the chance.

Now I have a friend who is a super fan of Ms. Minogue and because of him I've become quite familiar with her myself. When I heard about her new album I was totally intrigued because it's a bit of a departure for her. See, this year marks her 25th year in the music business and to celebrate she decided to cut an album of reworked versions of some of her hits. Instead of dancehall beats there's an orchestra and the results are lush, beautiful songs. Funny enough, my favorite song of her's "Can't Get You Out of My Head" is my favorite on this album as well. The original was great for dancing to and the new version is great to listen to and sing along. Who know she and I would make great duet partners?

full disclosure: I was given a copy of The Abbey Road Sessions for review. I wasn't given anything for Ben and Kate. I really love that show. All opinions are my own.
