Happy National Teachers’ Day! Yes, that’s right teachers, as gratitude for your hard work and dedication you get a day. Now don’t worry, you won’t have to deal with the hassle of taking time off. Today isn’t a vacation day. It just comes with that special feeling of knowing that someone out there cared enough to dedicate the Tuesday in the first full week of May to teachers. Enjoy, and get back to work.
All kidding aside, teachers, you deserve a lot more than a day. You’ve chosen to pursue a profession from which all other professions get their start. That’s no small task. While all jobs deal with turnover and constantly changing procedures, teaching takes it to a whole different level.
Despite the ridiculous hoops you are often asked to jump through, you keep at it. You push, teach, and inspire, often without notice or recognition. You purveyors of knowledge, keep fighting the good fight. And in case you don’t hear it today, thank you.
To all you non-teachers out there, no matter your job, career, or calling, a teacher has played a part in getting you there. These warriors deal with the endless politics of education and the everyday worries of doing a lot with a little. If you haven’t done so already, take some time to thank a teacher who got you where you are today.
