…Learn to Move On

xhamiltonposter-pagespeed-ic-guootjy1uh“Hamilton” fans, the day has finally come. Today sees the final performance of the original lead and creator of the smash hit “Hamilton”— Lin-Manuel Miranda. Today also sees the departure of the original Burr—Leslie Odom Jr.—and Eliza Hamilton—Phillipa Soo.

While I know this is a tough day for those who had hope to see the mostly-original cast before they moved on to other projects, it’s going to be okay. If you haven’t seen the show yet, you may be wondering if it lives up to the hype. You may also worry that part of the shows magic is reliant on the current cast. I’d like to address some of these fears.

First of all, the show lives up to they hype. In fact, it surpasses the hype.

Second, I won’t lie, there’s something really special about seeing the creator of the show perform the title role. And Leslie Odom Jr. was phenomenal as Burr. Ms. Soo was also heart-breakingly good. That being said, the show stands on its own.

In fact, I look forward to seeing others take on these and other roles. The possibilities and interpretations of each of the parts in this show are endless. I can’t wait to see how it grows as it spreads throughout the country and the world.

So don’t be sad, be excited. Tomorrow is a new day, and a whole new world for “Hamilton.”

On behalf of the 2WC, we wish the departing cast members the best of luck in their final performances and in their next adventure. Thanks for starting a glorious revolution.
