Today, everyone's favorite mouse turns the big 9-0. On this day in 1928 "Steamboat Willie" debuted and the world met Mickey Mouse. It's hard to imagine that 90 years ago anyone could have foreseen how much this little mouse would change the world.
Of course, he didn't do it by himself. Apparently even an animated lady never reveals her age, but Minerva "Minnie" Mouse is also entering a new decade today.
Love it or hate it, the house built by the Mouse has taken over the world of entertainment. Disney is literally everywhere. From film to television to theme parks to their soon to launch streaming service.
While they haven't been perfect, I like to believe (or perhaps I have to) that most of what they've achieved has made the world better.
So, happy birthday, Mickey (and Minnie)! Thanks for sharing your magic.
