Let Me Give You A Hand

Hand shaped hand melt moisturizer

Isn’t this adorable?  I got this at Lush and I am in love with this moisturizer.  It’s a solid hand that your rub and it melts moisturizer and smells great.  Not to mention it just looks cute.  This is my big weekend find at the mall with my mom.

The job interview went well last Friday and I think I have a job.  Well, the manager told me my schedule and asked if I could start in June which sounds encouraging, but the person who was supposed to call me about salary, training, etc… hasn’t gotten in touch with me yet so I’m a little nervous I’m going to get a call back saying the job is no longer available.  Although its more likely I’m just being overly paranoid because I really want this job.  I’ll let you know what happens next week, fingers crossed!

This Saturday my mom and I helped throw a bridal shower for my cousin who is getting married in June.  It went well and I think my cousin in enjoyed it (at least I hope so)!  And she got some fantastic gifts.  Meanwhile I’ve been working on my present for her.  Being a college student (who may or may not be employed) I wanted to get her something but can’t really afford a $100 gift so I’m going in with my parents and making her a surprise wedding announcement.

Wedding Day Pattern from Cross Stitch Collection

I got this pattern from Cross Stitch Collection several months ago (if I was on the ball I’d have an issue # for you but I’m not…) and I loved it.  It doesn’t look like a usual cross-stitch announcement, which are usually more samplerish and have a Victorian feel to them.  This one looks contemporary and is just a lot of fun, and I couldn’t wait to make it.  I altered the colors of the border and the text to match my cousin’s wedding colors…or at least that was my intention.  Unfortunately the ribbons I got from her mom aren’t the same colors as what her bridesmaids dresses ended up being.  I was given mint green and dark coral and the colors have turned out to be teal and peach.  I’m debating whether or not I want to unpick the lettering and restitch it with the right colors but then it’s going to look messy at the top and I’m not sure how much extra time I’m going to have.

This is just two days of work, so it’s a fairly quick stitch, but the second you start unpicking something you run into problems you never knew you had.  I might try a backstitch outline in a vibrant teal to bring out the blue of the green I’ve already used.  It seems like the best option.

I hope you all are having a fantastic start to the week.  I’ve been having such a hard time getting out of bed in the morning and starting things.  Couldn’t tell you why, probably all that stress I’ve been pushing down coming back with a vengeance.  I’ve also come to the conclusion I don’t have enough years left in my life to read all the books I want to read.  This is a very sad realization and has me feeling old a depressed.  But it’s a beautiful day and I have a hammock waiting for me outside so maybe I’ll knock off a few hundred pages this afternoon.

Go do something crafty, read a book, drink some tea.  Life is short, might as well make the most of it!
