Thursday night was spent at the 3G, Guinness book of world records event in Paris.
2 world records were broken on the night: the largest 3D movie screen, measuring in at 27metres, and the largest audience of a 3D movie. The chosen film was the latest from Blue sky studios; Reo, a family film suitable to all tastes. The aim of the night was to promote their new 3D technology TV.
While the event probably cost in the region of a couple of million, with free sandwiches, drinks, popcorn and other cinema style treats, there was a lot to be desired from the night. Not least was the waiting time, although the movie wasn’t shown until after 10pm audiences were asked to arrive by 8. Some mild 3D entertainment was provided with the new TV showing highlights of the evening as they happened, video games in 3D and small scale cinemas, but the interest was short lived. As ive always felt about 3D when you’ve seen it once, its done.
There were numerous celebs rumored to show, but in fact Sophie Marceau was the only A list, and was obliged by contract, amongst some B list celebs and comedians.
After 2 hours of waiting around, we were eventually allowed to enter the cinema room, but not with popcorn! To be given the most uncomfortable plastic seats ever.  The film was good, if you’re a fan of ice age, then Reo is for you, though I don’t think I would care if it was 3D or not. It started and ended impressively, but what happened in the middle? The 3D seemed less impressive somehow.
Finishing after 11pm, we were given a certificate for participating in breaking the world record and allowed to keep our 3D glasses, which I have to say were probably the most impressive part of the night. They were cool looking, glowing in UV light, light weight and comfortable, defo will keep them in my bag when going to the cinema.
