M is for Majestic (and Other Nonsense Words) + Bucket List Inspiration: The Bold Writer from A to Z

M is for majesticM is for.... Majestic:

One of my biggest complaints about the writing I read from students is the use of too many conceptual, abstract words without the objective, descriptive language to give it satisfying visual or other sensory structure the readers can "see" as in "showing" not "telling."

"Majestic" is an especially strong pet peeve word of mine. Perhaps you will have a moment to watch the opening of this video from The Bucket List where the word is discussed... and then come back for the prompts. If you don't have time for the video now, please spend time with the prompts anyway.

  Quote

“It is majestic, this love affair of ours, so powerful and regal. It is the kind of love that fairytales are born of. The kind that often ends in tragedy.”

Addison Moore

Someone on "Goodreads.com" labeled this quote as majestic. What do you think?

"I felt once more how simple and frugal a thing is happiness: a glass of wine, a roast chestnut, a wretched little brazier, the sound of the sea. Nothing else.”
― Nikos Kazantzaki
