It’s here, crusaders, the first round of the final showdowns before the 2016 Presidential Election…
Years of campaigning have led to this moment. The low level of hyperbole in that statement is exhausting on its own…the campaigns themselves even more so.
Still, the show must go on, and you crusaders, as responsible, informed citizens must tune in this evening to witness what will likely be a fascinating evening of debate…one way or another.
The entertainment value alone is a draw, second of course to the civic responsibility. You’ll recall the meme-worthy moments that past debates have brought: “Binders of Women,” “Malarkey,” and “Paul Ryan Gosling.”
In all seriousness, we are in the final days before we choose our nation’s next leader, and it is our responsibility to make the most educated decision we can make. So that means not only watching tonight’s debate, but also questioning it, not taking responses at face value. And yes, a lot of that responsibility to push back and dig deeper falls on the moderator, but it also falls on you. No pressure…but the next four years are riding on your informed decision…make sure you’re paying attention.
