If you live for more holidays like Black Friday, Cyber Monday, or Black Thursday (formerly known as Thanksgiving), then today is your lucky day. Thanksgiving week is getting another retail-inspired holiday — Connection Day.
The aptly name holiday will take place on the day before Thanksgiving (11/26 this year), and is all about going mobile.
If you’re not horribly offended by the fact that it’s a promotional event for Verizon Wireless, Amazon, Apple, and more, it’s actually not a bad idea. The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year, so what better day to celebrate all things mobile…and get some pretty good deals.
If you register at Verizon’s Connection Day site, you can get discounts ranging from free digital magazines to a secret special offer from Apple. Surprisingly, you don’t have to be a Verizon customer…for some of the deals.
While some of the perks, such as free access to popular films and television series, could lead to some anti-family-time binge viewing, it could also make some travel headaches a little more bearable.
Of course, in a few years it could merge into a three-day Black Friday super holiday…but I’ll reserve my judgment until that actually happens.
