Marriage Monday-Proverbs 31 Wife

Posted on the 11 June 2012 by Lifeofasportswife @jessaolson
Happy Monday Everyone! It's that time again for Marriage Monday. This week I want to focus on the wives and myself. After all, if we want to "change" our husbands we need to start with ourselves.
This week I want to talk about being the Proverbs 31 wife for our husbands. The first time I read the passage I was completely overwhelmed. I was thinking how can I can be so much to husband. What about everything in my life as well? Did God forget we only have 24 hours a day? (I know he didn't, but I felt so stressed out.) Then I read the book "My So-Called Life as a Proverbs 31 wife" and I felt confused. The book is her struggle through being the Proverbs 31 wife, and she realized she didn't need to do it all. It was a give and take between husband and wife.
I still consider us Newlyweds. We have been married just over a year. (Side question: How long is the newlywed valid?) Anyway, I struggled for a while on being that "perfect" wife for G. I want to be that Prov 31 wife and be successful on my own terms as well. I want to work as well as be a great wife.
Below is a link to a youtube video on a guys perspective of being a Proverbs 31 wife. After the Victoria Secret fashion show, this became a viral sensation. While I agree with everything he says. I also agree that I want to be both: "Victoria Secret" model for my husband and a Godly wife. And I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

I have been reading a lot of Christian books lately. In each book they mention being a Proverbs 31 wife. In a book I recently read, and can't remember the title, but the author suggests breaking it up the verses into smaller segments. If you want to be a better wife, take 1 thing and work on it until you mastered it. Then move on to the next thing.
The first thing I am going to work on  is Proverbs 31:15. "She gets up while still dark, she provides food for her family, and her females servants." (I don't have female servant, but I can do the rest.) This week I hope to wake up before everyone else. Not only to make sure his lunch is made, etc. But to also start my day off with the Lord.
Questions
1. What do you want to talk about next week?
2. What do you want to work on this week?
