Today is not one of those days. Today is THE DAY I ask for your help.
I actually NEED your help.
This is why: A few weeks ago I learned about the Chase Mission Small Business competition, which provides the opportunity to US small businesses to apply for a $250K grant. Yes, two-hundred-fifty-thousand-dollars.
Not chump change by any stretch of the imagination!
But then work got in the way, and yet I kept getting told: "You should enter the Latina Lifestyle Bloggers Collective in the Mission Small Business Challenge."
And, entered I did - three days ago.
If you didn't know it, here's a little bit of insight about me, I own a small business that has since grown and includes separate division that I am very passionate about: The Latina Lifestyle Bloggers Collective.
The collective, as you may or may not know, grew from a simple idea, or hunch if you may, and is now more than a hobby, it's my passion.
I am passionate about #LLBLOG (as we are fondly identified on Twitter), for many reasons that are publicly shared on both my Twitter stream, Facebook and even this blog. To simplify the reason of our existence, goes along the lines of this:
Latinas have a voice that needs to be heard.I believe that together, as a unified voice, we can not only do it, we are stronger when we do.
This is not a quick-buck scheme. God only knows that I have invested more time, energy and money than anything else I have ever done to grow the collective to this level.
So imagine the possibility of a grant, of a two-hundred-fifty-thousand-dollar allowance?! If we have been able to grow with pocket money - my pocket money - we can, in essence, do a whole-heck-of-a-lot-more with a grant of this size, including:
- Hiring, full-time, some of our members - ideally two (but who's counting?!)
- Creating opportunities to bring-in women-owned business as consultants to help grow our the power of our collective
- Further develop, and grow our business partnerships
- Update our website
- And so much, much more.
