Move On #ThatsWhatSheSaid

Posted on the 21 January 2015 by Vidyasury @vidyasury

I was sharing my Triberr mates' posts when I came across Katy Blevin's post about a fun blog hop " That's what she said " - where we write a post around a quote by a woman. .

Each week we will pick a quote, the quotes we choose are women's words... get it? That's What She Said. The link up will run for 2 weeks this week. Starting February 5th we have the linkup live for 5 days! Each week will provide the next week's quote.

More about how to play here

This week's quote is fabulous.

"Don't stumble over something behind you"

If there is one inspiring quote I will always hold in my heart, it is this. "Don't stumble over something behind you".

How often do we allow something that happened in the past to hold us back from moving forward towards happiness? How often do we allow ourselves to be shackled in fear and hesitate when we're on the threshold of a wonderful experience?

None of us can escape from our pasts. What we can do for sure is leave it behind and move on.

I know I am guilty of letting my mind play yo-yo between the past and the future, when all I ought to be doing is living in the present. It is not as if I lack in self-confidence or self-esteem. Somehow, it has become second nature to weigh everything before putting that step forward. That's not a bad thing - after all, it is good to look before one leaps. When this wipes out spontaneity and that nice dose of impulsiveness, it can become tedious.

I am taking stock of what I am guilty of stumbling over. Here's a to-don't list I am focusing on:

  • Stop looking back on hurtful experiences. Move on.
  • Stop wasting energy on doing what does not make me happy. Move on.
  • Stop underestimating myself. I am so capable and more than enough
  • Stop looking for "perfect". Some things just don't deserve the stress. Move on.
  • Stop listening to the "inner critic". Move on and indulge in fun stuff.

This year I am going to stop people pleasing - except with those that really matter and focus. Come on, I am nice like that! I am not going to look back on the times that upset me or the things that went wrong. Years ago, I made it a practice to be present and celebrate the small things and I am going to continue to do that.

Here is something I wrote on my Mom's birthday last year. I used the first letters of the word "GRATITUDE" to begin each sentence. I have more "that's what she said"s from her than anyone else I know - and I know it has shaped me into the person I am.
