‘Natural’ Toiletterie Review Update

Posted on the 23 July 2014 by Larlarcharms
Out with the old..

I’d like to update a couple of my previous reviews since I have used these products for many months now & my opinion has somewhat changed.

BBshamp

‘BURT’S BEES VERY VOLUMISING POMEGRANATE SHAMPOO’

I only have this because it was on offer from Boots ages ago and my sister gave it to me – I’m not one to turn down a free product that would normally cost a lot! Out of all of the different brands I have tried, this shampoo is the best at making hair look clean and shiny – even though it does not lather up quite as well as normal shampoo – but it is SLS free so I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised, I’ll try anything ‘natural’ over the toxic chemicals.

However, don’t be too fooled. Burt’s Bees may pride themselves on being a brand that is natural, however, this is not entirely true! More often than not, their ingredients will contain at least a couple of questionable chemicals which kind of defeats the point, amirite?

I have nearly finished this shampoo and will not be replacing.

‘BURT’S BEES PEPPERMINT BODY WASH’

My sister also gave me this a while back. It does the job, in that sense I have no complaints. But there are tons of cheaper ‘natural’ body washes on the market which is why I will not be replacing this one either.

DR. ORGANIC’S LAVENDER BODY WASH

I reviewed this product months ago (scroll down if you have nothing else to do, lol). But since trying out other body washes, I have lost interest in this one and D.r Organic. I’ve tried quite a lot of scents from their range now and most smell nice and it isn’t too pay for the price, especially on Holland and Barrett’s half price sale. The label on the back states that it is a body and hair wash, but it leaves hair looking greasy and flat which is annoying because this was my go-to product, especially when staying elsewhere. Sure, I could just pack a body wash and shampoo, but I was lazy and usually short on space. It took me a while to realize that I must have been walking around with greasy hair for months, especially when I received a comment that my hair looked like it had been dyed darker, haha, no. I kept reading that there is a transition period where hair will stay greasy because its being stripped of the dodgy chemicals. Okay, I thought, I’ll just wait it out. But I never reached the end of this transition period and I even used up my last travel-sized emergancy ‘toxic’ conditioner and instantly my hair felt clean and tangle-free. -_- I then tried the Burt’s Bees shampoo and realised that I should have switched a long time ago.

This review may seem biased because to be fair, it states ‘body wash’ on the front. But don’t say it’s also a hair wash on the back if you can’t deliver the goods, Dr. Organic!

Organicsurge

We stocked up on these when they were half price in Waitrose a few months back. I’m not too fussed about it being an organic product because I know not all organic products are what they promise. However, it lathers up nicely and does the job. I’d recommend stocking up when it’s next on offer.

BURT’S BEES VITAMIN E AND PEPPERMINT LIP BALM

I think I reviewed this product months ago, along with a Dr. Organics lip balm. Just to update you, I ended up throwing out the Dr. Organics balm as soon as I bought this on Ebay. It is only a couple of quid on Ebay and I’ve always received a fast delivery too!

The Burt’s Bees lip balm ticks all of the boxes.

It’s cheap.

The vitamin and peppermint flavor smells and tastes nice. Although, I don’t go out of my way to taste it..

It’s not greasy and has a waxy quality that you would expect and this means the application is easy and I think it lasts well. Whereas, the Dr. Organics balm felt greasy and didn’t last a minute without the urge to apply more and tasted of that unmistakable, old and waxy taste that I once got from a ‘toxic’ bourjois Pound Shop lipgloss.

Rarely does a natural product tick all of the boxes for me and even if they are pretty good, they are usually expensive. I’ve bought other family members this lip balm and they are also satisfied with the product. I wish all of the Burt’s Bee range was as good value as the balm (which still retails at over £3 in shops, so buy online!).

P.s. After feeling so reliant on this product, I’m too scared to check the ingredients list, but hopefully it’s fine!
