Nourish

Posted on the 16 April 2015 by Vidyasury @vidyasury

When I chose this word for you today, Nourish, the first thing that came to my mind is the home made porridge you would get so excited about when you were a baby. You would literally bouncing in your baby chair as you saw one of us - your Grandma, Daddy or me approach you with the special silver bowl you associated with it. You would gurgle with joy and anticipation - and we, in turn, would be filled with soul smiles at your happiness.

As we nourished you with healthy food, you nourished our soul with your appreciation, your laughter. The best part? You delighted us throughout the day. It seemed like you were growing every minute after a point. Your Grandma was so fond of saying "Naal oru meni, pozhudoru vannam", which roughly translates to "something new every moment, on a daily basis". We would watch you in wonder - and in fact, our paediatrician often joked, asking if you somehow got switched at the hospital. You really were the happiest baby I ever saw. Neighbors complained that they never heard you cry.

Nourishing the body with nutritious food is important to stay healthy. And as clichéd at it may sound, health is the ultimate wealth. When I look back, I can't help but feel happy about your respect for the food you eat. I am proud of how disciplined you are. While physical health is the first step, do not forget to nourish your soul.

Plug into people and things that uplift you and nourish your soul

If your soul is not happy, life can be pretty boring and meaningless. Routines will always part and parcel of our lives with all our must-do's and the non-negotiables. But there's the other part of life where we must recoup our energy. There's where your soul comes in.

Make sure you always take time out to...

When you do this, remember to spring clean your routine and throw out the clutter and non-productive activities that suck your time and energy.

If it doesn't nourish your soul get rid of it...out it goes!

Go to the people and places that set a spark in your soul
