[October 13]: Remember Those High School Dreams?

Posted on the 13 October 2012 by Sarahkasm @Sarahkasm
The skinny boys I knew
Grew fat and donned suits
The ideals and principles I knew
Were written in files, filed away,
And if it weren't for a schoolgirl's memory,
The wild thought of their existence
Would have been questionable.
The protests and active events,
And all the piasters, pennies and cents
Collected for the cause
Were gone before the applause
Was mustered,
After insults and disbelief were thundered
At them for wasting their time;
Activism never helped the self,
It never brought out men
Or money to the plate,
And the plate to the table.
The skinny boys I once knew
Grew fat and donned suits,
And those men in those costumes
I do not know anymore
The boys I knew are gone.
