[October 22]: I, Rebellious

Posted on the 23 October 2012 by Sarahkasm @Sarahkasm

RebellionWas supposed to come at my door ten years agoInstead, it showed up last month,When everything was finally coming togetherThe first time I ever said the wordsKnow what? I just don’t give aHush yo mouth girl.
It’s true, I've never cussed beforeI won’t lie; I've always thought the curses, Roared them in my head,But what calm mask of unspoken rageCould last forever, unscathed?

Show me such a mask, and then perhaps
I will admit I am wrong.
But, no,
Now, I am a rebel.

I couldn't care less what anyone else wants of me,As long as I’m not stepping on your feet,Would you kindly, pleaseKeep yours off of mine.
See, even in my rebellion, I can still command you politely.
I demand you stop asking me
Leave me the hell aloneStop advising meStop trying to tell me what to doAnd practice what you preachMind your own damn business.
Who appointed you judge and jury? The reason I never said anything all these yearsWas that I was too busy struggling with my own glitchesTrying to stitch up all the holes created In the imperfect material I’m holdingAnd do you have any ideaHowLongIt TakesToKNIT?
No, well, maybe that’s because you haven’t tried itWhy? Too busy criticizing everyone else’s choicesThe sound of your voice has become the most Irritating thing I've ever heardIrksome enough to stir a rebellion Work something up inside the quietestUnobtrusive living beings
You do know that inside every kitten
Rests a lion’s roar?
Want to hear it, boy?
Hear my rebellionAnd leaveBefore I spring a whole bloody revolution Upon you,Believe you me,I will not rest; I will not pack away my tentsI will not stop pushing this protestUntil the demands I never knew I could ask forNever knew I wantedNever knew I neededAre met.--------October Poetry: in the style of April Poetry (U.S. National Poetry Month),U.K’s poetry month is October.  Personal Mission: 31 days, 31 poems. Challenge Accepted.  Link to others: http://sarahkasm.tumblr.com/october-poetry-2012
