Officially An Undergraduate

Posted on the 22 October 2013 by Kimeetay @Kimee_Tay

Howdy everyone!

I should have posted this post a looooong time ago. Well if you don’t personally know me, I enrolled into Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Engineering Campus on the 1 September 2013. I’m a student of School of Materials and Mineral Resources Engineering and a Year 1 undergraduate for Mineral Resource Engineering. USM has the title of an APEX University but I myself don’t quite understand what that means. Like any other learning institutes, we had to undergo a week of orientation. Since USM is an APEX University, our orientation week was called Program Siswa Lestari 2013/2014. Another thing about USM is that all Year 1 students have to attend a camp called Pimpin Siswa after orientation week, those usual team building kinda camp. It was quite fun lah, better than what I have imagined. LOL.

Today marks my 52nd day as a student of USM. To be honest, I was such a loner initially. In TIKL and KMTPh, my previous learning institutes, I only mixed with Malays and a handful of other races. Here in USM, all the Chinese had their Chinese friends, all the Malays had their Malay friends, etc. Everyone who came here seem to have their own friends already and I felt like I was the only exception. I didn’t know how to mix in with the Chinese or the Malay or anyone else. Anyway, during the first week, my room-mate Adriana was really awesome. She invited me to makan lunch with her sometimes.  But most of the time, I ate alone. LOL.

Anyway, things took a turn and I now have my own group of friends called the Sohai(s). It all started out during my first Engineering Drawing lesson which was on a Friday in Week 2. Majority of the Chinese in USM, I dare say 85% are from STPM meaning they are born in the year 1993. Furthermore, majority of the the students from STPM have no background in Engineering Drawing. I have took Engineering Drawing for 3 years and so I guided my fellow Chinese school mates during our lesson. The dude who sat beside me called Jashon started calling me Kim 姐 which means Kak Kim. It literally means Elder Sister Kim -_____-

And soon most of the Chinese from my school started calling me Kim 姐. Well that was how I made my group of friends, during Engineering Drawing lesson. To be honest, I’m really grateful that I graduated from TIKL. If I didn’t have my basics in Engineering Drawing, I probably wouldn’t have made friends with them. Haha. Been really close with this bunch of people for a month now and I’m loving them to bits. Haha.

As for my room-mates, there’s Adriana and Ann. Ann is more towards the super clean type whereas Adriana is more towards the messy side. I guess I’m like in between both of them. Haha. Last time during Form 5 and Matriculation, I was always the hygiene freak of the room, not any more! Anyway, don’t know why lah but I seldom talk to my room-mates. Or can I  say that my room-mates seldom talk to me? LOL. I guess all of us have our own group of friends.

There’s so much more to tell in my 52 days here in USM. I really, really wanna update my blog more often and regularly but there are a couple of factors that’s pulling me back. Firstly, photos. I started watermarking my photos awhile back and watermarking them takes time. And when there are a lot of photos, I don’t feel like doing it. Because it takes up a lot of time and I don’t have that much time. Well another reason is because I’m lazy and I procrastinate a lot. But I told myself that I won’t let photos get in the way. I’ll just use words if I don’t have enough time to watermark my photos.

Follow me on Facebook / Twitter / Instagram for instant pictures. LOL . Right now in Uni, I’m more to Facebook than Twitter and Instagram cause informations are spread in Facebook. On the other hand, Twitter and Instagram play their role when I have nothing better to do. Haha. And dear loyal readers (like I have any -_- haha), thanks for visiting my blog constantly even though I haven’t been updating much. I promise to update at least once a week ^^
