Oh Sandy…

Posted on the 29 October 2012 by Drowqueen @theburnedhand

During every storm along the east coast, we always prepare for the worst.  When I say “we”, I mean the residents that have lived here for a while.  In my neighborhood, they like to tell stories about all the hurricanes and what happened with each one.  There were Floyd parties, Katrina ramblings, and Irene stories.  So, I made my preparations on Friday, went to my friend’s house Saturday night for her event, we called it Octoberfestorm, and ran out in the rain yesterday to get some last-minute costume things for my kids…there was no one there.  Ha.

Last night I could not still the unrest of my mind as I tried to sleep.  We have 100 feet trees or more surrounding our house.  During every storm, a few in the neighborhood usually go down.  So once again I prayed that if any went down, they would miss everyone’s houses as they always have.  I fell into a deep sleep only to wake up this morning from a horribly weird Stephen King dream.  For real.  Whew.  I could write some horror stories from some of my nightmares.  Anyway, moving on.  The yard is flooded.  The sandbags in front of my garage are holding.  There are a few limbs down, but we are all safe.  I think it’s time I called that tree man.  Oh, and I am off work today.  The storm is not over yet.

I will survey the area when I can and possibly do one of my photo updates with just pictures and captions.  I like doing those.  I might even measure the water height with my dachshunds.  No, wait, that’s not nice.
