on loving quiet and hating cantaloupe.

“A happy life must be to a great extent a quiet life, for it is only in an atmosphere of quiet that true joy dare live.”
-Bertrand Russell

I’m feeling extra quiet this week. I’m not sure why. I suppose I’m tired and busy and tired of being busy. I sat down today to write and there was nothing. No words. No thoughts. Nothing worth sharing. I put my pen to paper but it was too forced and I hate that more than I hate anything. Even more than I hate cantaloupe. Yes, I hate cantaloupe. My mother-in-law prepared a fruit salad yesterday and kept the cantaloupe separate. It’s one of the reasons I know she loves me. She put the melon slices in their own little bowl so none of the juice would come into contact with the other, delicious fruit. I can’t eat fruit salad with cantaloupe in it because then everything tastes like cantaloupe. The smell alone makes me want to gag. I can’t even kiss Brett after he eats it. I make him brush his teeth first.

I really truly hate cantaloupe.

But not as much as I hate forced writing.

So, I’m taking a little break this week, but I’ll try to scrounge up some lovely photos for you to look at in the meantime.

Fellow cantaloupe haters (are you out there?), feel free to leave your cantaloupe rants below.
