Day by day. Week by week. Month by month – the times just fly by.

You know what I’m talking about. When your days start to blur together. When you have to remind yourself in the morning that the sun is up, that it’s time to get out of bed.

Exhaustion.

Yup, we all know what exhaustion feels like.

And there’s more to exhaustion than just the physical. There’s mental, emotional, and –  most importantly – there’s spiritual exhaustion.

Despite how spiritually burnt out you may feel, when Sunday morning comes, it’s show time. You put on that smiling face, you blissfully greet the people you run into, you raise your hands in worship…and for a moment, you convince yourself that you’re okay.

But then service comes to an end, and reality sinks in once more.

You know that you are weak. You know that you are exhausted.

This season of life that I find myself in is the hardest one yet. I know what it is to be exhausted. To feel as though you just can’t catch up. To give into the lie that rest may never come.

A few days ago, I journaled these words, pleading with the Lord:

I’m tired of being so tired all that time. I feel as though I’m living in a constant state of exhaustion. Not physical or mental, not emotional exhaustion – but spiritual exhaustion.

And as I wrote down those words, I was reminded of a simple, yet powerful truth that was spoken that morning during church.

“My grace is enough; it’s all you need.
My strength comes into its own in your weakness.

Once I heard that, I was glad to let it (suffering) happen. I quit focusing on the handicap and began appreciating the gift. It was a case of Christ’s strength moving in on  my weakness. Now I take limitations in stride, and with good cheer, these limitations that cut me down to size – abuse, accidents, opposition, bad breaks. I just let Christ take over! And so the weaker I get, the stronger I become. // 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 ( MSG)

After reflecting on this truth, the conclusion that I came to?

Weakness is beautiful.

Jesus is most glorified in our lives when we are at our weakest. Just as Paul wrote, “the weaker I get, the stronger I become.”

So what does this all have to do with spiritual exhaustion?

When we are exhausted – especially spiritually – we are weak.

But rather than sulking in our weakness, let us boast of our exhaustion! Let us be glad that we are made weak. For in our circumstances, Christ can be exalted.

Paul, even Paul, boasted in his weakness, friends.

Yes, it’s the only way to overcome – we must bring our struggles from the darkness and into the light. We must stop trying to cover them up and hide our hurts and pains, ladies.

We must boast of our weakness, and let light consume us.

Then we shall be healed; then we shall overcome.

YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.

YOU ARE LOVED.

CHRIST CALLS YOU RIGHT WHERE YOU’RE AT.

Run into His arms; He is waiting for you.

I pray that you would be encouraged this week, ladies.

I may not be able to understand and know what you are going through, but He does. Give your burdens over to Him today.

If you are in need of someone to pray with, of encouragement, or prayer requests of any kind, don’t hesitate to contact me. I would be so blessed to be able to help you in your walk.

And now, I leave you with a few verses to meditate on, to help you remember that weakness is beautiful.

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. // John 14:27

I am the Light of the World. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. // John 8:12

Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. // Matthew 11:28-30
