P is for Persistence: The Bold Writer from A to Z

Posted on the 18 April 2014 by Juliejordanscott @juliejordanscot

P is for persistenceThank you to those of you who are returning after my blog was down for about twenty-four hours. Typepad had some sort of attack which I don't understand at all.

Anyway - I'm grateful you are here and reading.

There are so many P words I could have chosen: Purpose, Passion, Presence… and the much less sexy word “persistence”, which is the one I am going to stick with for today.

Quotes

“ You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”  Maya Angelou

“Hardships make or break people.”
― Margaret Mitchell

“A bend in the road is not the end of the road…Unless you fail to make the turn.”
― Helen Keller

I also discovered how many quotes were about both courage and persistence.

Questions:

What was your first exposure to persistence?

What was your first exposure to persistence laced with courage?

How do you relate persistence to being a writer?

 Lists:

Make a list of 3 to 10 (or more) examples of persistence in literature, movies or biographies

Make a list of 3 to 10 times in your life when you have been persistent. What happened next?

What did you make the results mean?

Make a list of 3 to 10 ways you continue to be persistent as a writer

Traditional Writing Prompts:

I remember my persistence when…

I remember the time _____ showed persistence….

The first rule of persistence is….
