…Park It

2015/01/img_2229-0.jpgThis week’s What to Watch Wednesday is dedicated to a much beloved comedy that kicked off its final season last night. In case the giant banner floating above this text didn’t give it away, I’m talking about “Parks & Recreation.”

If you haven’t been following this little-comedy-that-could, you’ve been missing out. It’s definitely one of the better half-hour comedies currently on TV.True, it kind of started out looking like a copy of “The Office,” but it’s proven to be a better show than “The Office,” ever was…even if it’s not quite as popular.

So, what makes this show so special?

Well, in a word — Knope. That’s Knope as in Leslie Knope, played by the talented and hilarious Amy Poehler. It’s a smart, goofy show, that puts a comedic spin on the ridiculous inner-workings of local government. Although, it’s probably a little closer to reality then we’d like to imagine, that’s part of what makes it hilarious.

Of course, a government office would be nothing without its crazy employee’s and other slightly-off characters, and Parks and Rec has those in spades. Nick Offerman as Ron Swanson, Chris Pratt as Andy Dwyer, Aubrey Plaza as April Ludgate, and Aziz Ansari as Tom Haverford, are just a few of the names that have been backing up Leslie Knope from the beginning. And that’s not even including the cameos and other smaller recurring roles.

If you need one more reason to watch, I give you Pawnee. It’s small town in Indiana that you’ve probably never heard of, but after just a few episodes of I dare you not to fall in love. True, it sounds terrible, but it this group of insane, but lovable characters choose to call it home, it can’t be half bad.
