…Phase Out

Posted on the 08 September 2014 by Zer @the2women

Full_Moon It’s hard to believe it’s already here, but tonight is your last chance to catch a glimpse of one of the summer’s three supermoons.

For those of you who been completely out of the astronomy-loop (it’s a thing), this is the third straight month with a supermoon. The super in its title refers to the fact that the moon’s closest point to Earth in its orbit coincides with the full moon. So it appears to be bigger and brighter than usual.

While tonight’s supermoon isn’t quite as big and bright as August’s, it is not without its own charms.

Tonight’s moon, is both a supermoon and the harvest moon, since it’s the full moon that falls the closest to autumnal equinox. It’s also a good excuse for Blue Moon fans to overindulge on a Monday night (…yes this is a real: Blue Moon).

If you aren’t able to view tonight’s moon due to weather, don’t fret too much. There will be another supermoon in January.
