The reviews are already hitting the web and we are in the final, final countdown to "Avengers: Endgame" is upon us.

Eleven years of superb, intricate, interwoven storytelling on a scale that is truly unprecedented is about to come down to one final story (all three hours of it).

For those who haven't been playing along from the start, I regret to tell you that you do not have enough time to watch all the movies before "Endgame" hits the theaters.

But I do encourage you to try. So, this What to Watch Wednesday I thought I'd share my favorites from the Marvel Universe to get us all in the spirit...

First, for those dedicated to catching up (quickly). If you want to follow the plot go with these:

  • "The Avengers"
  • "Thor: Dark World"
  • "Guardians of the Galaxy"
  • "Captain America: Civil War"
  • "Avengers: Infinity War" (bare minimum...and I cannot stress this enough...you need to see this before seeing part two.)

If you want to just watch some great movies (i.e. my favorites) then don't miss these...and they'll help some with the plot some...

"Iron Man" - This is where it all started. If you've managed to miss this, it's time to fix that.

"Captain America" - He's the first Avenger (sort of...it gets complicated with the whole cryogenic thing and Captain Marvel...but he existed first). Regardless, it's a period superhero movie, i.e. the best kind of superhero movie.

"Thor" - Thanos may be the baddy of the moment, but he is standing on the shoulders of the first truly great Marvel villain - Loki. 😢

"Captain Marvel" - Have you picked up on my affinity for the origin stories? Also, (arguably) the first Avenger.

"Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse" - This will not help you out with "Endgame" at all, but you will get to watch a really great movie. So there is an upside.

Okay, let's get to it, crusaders. The clock is ticking...
