(Practically) Free Wanderlust Fixes

Tumblr_mbl0vyzhpv1r5g39uo1_1280_largeAs the wildly wonderfully and culturally curious people that we are, we're bound to get a little frustrated with wanderlust at times. Like, right.this.very.second. and booking an impromptu flight to somewhere gorgeous in Europe just isn't doable. It's times like these that we need something cheap and cheerful to scratch our wanderlust itch.

Postcrossing
The idea of postcrossing is that you sign up, and start swapping postcards from people all over the world! Every week or so I will get a postcard from another corner of the planet, from someone I don't even know, telling me a bit about where they live. I love it, and all it costs you is a few stamps! Postcards are quite cheap to send.
InterpalsHey, you so pretty, how you?! You want be my girlfriend???" For some reason they are nearly always from Turkey... (If one of them offered to get me a faux Mulberry bag I might have considered it.)

(This website is a great tool if you like letter writing, and want to choose who you write, unlike Postcrossing, BUT as I said, you have to be your own safety police, don't reply to ANY emails from anyone you don't feel comfortable talking to, and don't give out your personal information to anyone  you haven't chatted to for a little while first.)
Lonely Planet Of course, as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, and sometimes a quick browse of the gorgeousness that is the Lonely Planet website is all I need. How about some islands in the Phillipines, sky rises in the Tokyo and volcanoes in Hawaii?
