When it rains, it pours. I looked up the definition of this expression on line.  Usingenglish.com defines it in this way:  ”This idiom means that when things go wrong, a lot of things go wrong at the same time.”  When I thought about writing a “when it rains it pours” blog, this is not the definition I had in mind.

In my current situation, nothing is going wrong at all.  In fact, when I really examine my life, things are really good.  I have an amazing family.  I’m teaching at 5 different schools that I really respect.  I love my own kid’s school and am confident that they are receiving an excellent education.  I could go on and on.

All that said, I am still feeling the “when it rains it pours” emotions, and this is because I am busy!  Everything always happens all at once.  My schools are all gearing up for end of the year performances, camp is starting and there’s all of the curriculum to plan, my daughter is headed to overnight camp for the first time ever , and I am taking on large responsibilities for the next calendar year…yep…my head is swimming a bit…and yep, “when it rains it pours!”

The above list of items are all really positive things.  Nothing is “going wrong” as the Urban English definition suggests, but still, I know I am using this definition correctly.  My definition of “when it rains pours” would be this:  ”When a lot of things, good or bad, happen all at the same time as if it is all coming down on you at once…just as the rain comes down all at once, too”

So, hopefully the rain will let up a bit once summer gets rolling.  In the meantime, I am in the middle of a large storm.  That is why my song of the day is Madonna’s “Rain.”  I always loved this song, which sounds nothing like any of her other music.  Click HERE to go to Youtube to hear this lovely tune and please wish me luck as I try to keep my head above the water.
