Frankly speaking, while driving to Hotel Goldfinch for relishing Rajasthani Food Festival, I was not aware it will be a lifetime experience. In fact, it belongs to MRG Group also was a discovery to me. Because Sana-di-ge belongs to the same group. And Sana-di-ge in Chanakyapuri is a legend in hospitality and food. In fact, I would call it a new landmark in this field. If you don’t believe me, it means you haven’t been here even once. So, you need to visit this restaurant to experience the grandeur. And if you have been there even once, you would also be in love with it, like me. That place has really a poetic style in it. Probably it all depends on the culture and philosophy of the group that drives it. A unique kind of gravity is there in both the places. There is a magnetic pull, in fact.
Rajasthani Food Festival was not an idea without any homework. In fact, there was a good amount of research and survey behind it. And that is why the festival was a big success for all its 10 days of running. Rather, everyone was wishing it could have been for a month or more. Hotel Goldfinch is a budget hotel in Faridabad. Strategically, it is at a very nice location. On one hand, it is quite near to Surajkund and lake. On the other hand, Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range is also near to this place. At any moment of time, you will not find its room vacant. Mostly, there are tourists, shooters, and corporate clients occupying these rooms. Banjara is the only restaurant here. Looking at the popularity, now this hotel needs another restaurant within its premise to host more such kind of food festivals.
Rajasthani Food Festival Was A Fabulous Experience
Rajasthani Food Festival was on the rooftop of Hotel Goldfinch. MRG Group has a unique kind of culture that you will find at all their properties. I would never have come to know about this culinary treasure in Faridabad if I was not there during this festival. Though Banjara restaurant is on the ground floor, the festival arrangements were on the third floor that is a terrace. Probably it was the windiest day of November when we were there during the evening. Despite winds playing their own game trying to disturb the setup, the authentic food was the ultimate winner. Jal Jeera welcome drink is so refreshing that I had to repeat it, rather, in a bigger glass. Next to come were four authentic and classic Rajasthani Chutneys. These were Kachari, Imli, Lason, and Tamater. All were unique and fabulous in taste. Especially the latter two.
You think of a genuine Rajasthani dish and it was there at Rajasthani Food Festival at Hotel Goldfinch. While Sanadige was an altogether different style of luxury coastal and sea food experience, it was another classic dine-in evening. Boondo Raita marks a delicious entry. Rajasthani Murg tikka in snacks was fantastic. So was the traditional Pakodas with Mint spicey sauce. In the main course, it was Dal Bati Churma, Lal Mans, Khichdi, Soybean Pulao, Dal, Gatte Ki Sabji, and a couple of more dishes. Missi Roti, Banjara Roti, and Makki Ki Roti were a bouquet of delight for us. In desserts, we had Carrot Halwa. Overall, this day was quite enjoyable for us having genuine and authentic Rajasthani food after a long time.
