REVIEW! Little Chef

Little Chef
Little Chef has been around for over 55 years and it's somewhere that both Mr Review Addict and I have fond memories of from when we were kids. We drove up to Manchester yesterday with my in-laws for a spot of shopping and an overnight stay and as we came off the M6 we spotted a Little Chef so made a note to pop in for breakfast on the way home.
It's hard to find a decent breakfast in Bracknell so there was a lot of excitement about our trip to Little Chef in Knutsford. The menu is huge and even includes some healthy options but we all decided that there was no point in messing around and everyone ordered an Olympic breakfast. The boys went for the normal version whereas my mother in law and I went for the veggie version.
My breakfast that you can see in the photo came with 2 veggie sausages, 2 hash browns, 2 fried eggs, sautéed potatoes, mushrooms, tomatoes, baked beans and the choice of fried bread or toast. I chose the fried bread and asked for my eggs to be cooked all the way through (over-well as they call it in the USA) and this was no problem. Mr Review Addict is a slightly fussy eater at times and he asked to swap a couple of his items and this was absolutely fine too. He was thrilled that he managed to exchange half a tomato for 2 hash browns and he also requested scrambled instead of fried eggs.
The food arrived quickly and exactly as requested and it's easy to see why it is called an Olympic breakfast because the portions were enormous! I loved that the beans came in a little pot, there is nothing worse than getting baked beans all over the place and this way I could pour them where I wanted. The veggies sausages were good, not too dry which is sometimes the case with meat free bangers and I absolutely loved the sautéed potatoes.
Whenever we go to America they seem to have so many places for breakfast and it seems a much bigger deal than here in the UK. I don't know if this is just the case because we mainly go to touristy places but with diners such as IHOP and Denny's seemly everywhere, it is so easy to get a decent breakie. Us Brits do a great breakfast but the problem is we don't really have any well known chains except  for Little Chef but sadly there are just not enough of them around.
This is a real shame because their breakfasts are epic and we all said today that if there was a restaurant more local to us that we would go there a lot for a fry up. The very first Little Chef was actually opened in Reading which would have been so close to us but sadly it's no longer there. We can only hope that the brand grows in popularity again and they decide to bring back the Reading branch, or even better open one in Bracknell!
Verdict
The best selling Olympic breakfast has been around since 1994 and it's easy to see why. We all enjoyed our food and were left absolutely stuffed! The service was great and we all thought that £7.99 for that huge plateful of food was a bargain...seriously where do they get those plates because I swear that they are twice the size of the plates that we have at home! I am looking forward to our next road trip and fingers crossed that there is a Little Chef on the way!
