Penn State Maple Bacon Pretzels
After seeing these Penn State Maple Bacon Pretzels on A Review A Day, I immediately tried to track them down. I managed to find them in Tesco right on the bottom shelf of the seasonal aisle. This isn't the first time that these have been released in the UK as Food Stuff Finds reviewed them last December, although the packaging has changed since then.
I'm not entirely sure what is seasonal about maple and bacon pretzels but they sounded awesome anyway. They were £1.59 for a 175g but was an offer on for 3 bags for £3 so it works out cheaper to get 3 bags than it does to buy 2...weird. A 30g serving contains 128 calories.

They smell kind of sweet and smokey but not necessarily of bacon. The pretzels are a lovely golden color and I could see the seasoning glistening in the light which made them look very appealing. I don't know what it is about pretzels but I always have the urge to lick the seasoning off so I did and it was quite sweet, I could definitely taste the maple. I ate some properly after than and the bacon flavor came through more although not as strong as I had hoped. The biscuity texture of the pretzels had a satisfying crunch but I couldn't help wishing for more bacon.
Verdict
Although the maple and bacon flavor was tasty it was quite subtle and overpowered by the flavor of the pretzel itself. I was a little bit disappointed to be honest, especially since the Sour Cream and Chive Penn State Preztels are so full of flavor so I had hoped for more the same here.
