Tesco has some new desserts in the chilled section at the moment and one of them is this Chocolate Popcorn and Salted Caramel dessert. They come in very cute looking boxes which are decorated with the American flag. This is part of the same American inspired range that also includes Pecan Pie Wedges and Crazy Maze Cheesecake
The dessert is described as layers of chocolate dessert, salted caramel sauce, chocolate coated popcorn pieces and caramel pieces. The box contains 2x 100g pots and each pot contains 290 calories.
The chocolate layer is quite thick and has a bit of a wobble to it whilst the salted caramel layer is more runny. The caramel was lovely; on it's own it was quite salty but eaten with the chocolate it was a lovely combination. The little crunchy bits of popcorn on top were a welcome addition against the smooth texture of the rest of the pudding, although I would have liked a few more of them but perhaps that is just me being greedy!
Verdict
This dessert is quite a lot like one of those Rolo desserts only much nicer! The salted caramel is spot on and I think that £1.50 for a box of 2 is very reasonable.
