I purchased this chocolate pizza from The Gourmet Chocolate Pizza Company at the Southbank Chocolate Festival earlier this year. This is a 4 inch pizza but they also make them in 7, 10 and 12 inches. These are not actual pizzas but basically novelty chocolate bars in the shape of a pizza and they come in a cute little pizza box!
Each pizza is handmade by their chocolatiers based in Nottingham and there are so many combinations to choose from. I must have spent ages trying to choose what to go for but in the end I went with Crunchy Munchy which is a milk chocolate base topped with vanilla fudge, chocolate brownie cookie, and white chocolate curls. I can't remember how much I paid but they are available online from the Gourmet Pizza Company website for £2.85 each in this size.
My pizza weighed 70g and came in a plastic wrapper within the mini pizza box. It had 6 sections or "slices" but it was quite hard to snap one off because the chocolate is so thick!
The Belgian milk chocolate base (min 33.8% cocoa) is very sweet and creamy with a hint of a vanilla taste to it. The white chocolate was nice and also had a vanilla taste to it and the rest of the toppings are embedded part way into the chocolate itself rather than just sitting on top. The brownie cookie added crunch and the fudge added yet more vanilla flavor.
Verdict I really enjoyed my chocolate pizza, the chocolate and the toppings were very nice. It is not the sort of thing that I would buy again for myself but they would make a great novelty gift for someone.
