My husband is my super hero. I am so incredibly proud of of him!!! Over the summer, he set his sights on getting back into cycling and amazingly accomplished completing a 400 mile ride from the California/Nevada state line in Lake Tahoe all the way across the state of Nevada on Hwy 50 (The loneliest highway in America) to the Utah state line.
If that wasn't enough of an enormous feat, my husband also set his sights on riding in the El Tour de Tucson ride this year, and yesterday was the day.
One thing about my husband is that though he loves to ride, he is definitely not about racing. He loves to ride distances, but speed has never been a factor for him, and for this reason, he has never signed up for the El Tour before. He did it though, and loved all the stops along the way and the volunteers passing out bananas, water and asking to "hold your bike" if you needed to go to the bathroom. There were people who were cheering him on the whole way, and as he described it, you could just hear what a fun experience it was. I am certain a tradition has begun for him, and I couldn't be more proud.
My song of the day is for his awesome cycling accomplishments this year. My honey "rides like the wind," and he is an inspiration. Way to go, babe!
