Rising Tensions

Posted on the 17 April 2013 by Jhouser123 @jhouser123

In addition to the tensions around the nation in the aftermath of the Boston Bombings, there is even more stress around the country today as apparent attempts at attacks on top government officials start coming. Two letters have been intercepted by White House and Capitol mail centers that contained suspicious substances, and today 2 Senate office buildings have been cleared because of suspicious packages.

One letter was addressed to Mississippi Senator Roger Wicker, and the other to President Obama. Both were tested in area laboratories to contain ricin, a poison derived from the production of castor oil used in heating. Federal agents have some possible suspects but are refusing to release any names at this time.

There are very few details about the suspicious packages in the senate offices but the large scale of the evacuations does seem to suggest that there is suspicion of either an explosive or a biological threat, but at this time there is no additional information to support either assumption.

Although these events, as well as the Boston Bombings seem to be close to one another, there is no evidence that these events are in any way linked to one another. The suspect behind the Boston incident is still unknown and these incidents could potentially be totally unrelated to one another, but thanks to assumptions around the Internet people seem to be jumping to the conclusion that this is a large scale attack.

We will continue to provide updates as they become available so please check back.
