Happy Derby Day!
Yes, it’s that time of year when even the most indifferent equine-racing fans have to feign interest in the sport for the next two to four weeks (no one cares if there’s not a potential Triple Crown winner).
The first jewel in the Triple Crown, the Kentucky Derby, is as much about fashion, as it is about the race itself. Today’s event will see a parade of hats ranging from stylish to downright weird.
Of course, today is really about the race itself, this year’s “Most Exciting Two Minutes In Sports,” promises to be a great one. This year’s potential winners include some fantastic names, such as American Pharoah, Dortmund, and Mr. Z…
Okay, sorry, I can’t fake it anymore, all this talk of names has me thinking about one thing — Great Britain has a new princess!
Yes, that’s right. If you’ve managed to somehow avoid being bombarded with this royal announcement until now, you hear it here first. Prince George has a little sister, and more importantly, we don’t know her name yet.
Much like the Kentucky Derby, bets were placed on this event (congratulation to those who had money on it being a girl), and continue to be placed on what the little princess’s name will be. Right now, the front-runners are Alice, Charlotte, Elizabeth, Victoria, and Diana (of course). All are strong contenders, so this race could go to anyone of them. Only time will tell.
