Setting a Schedule for Blogging

Posted on the 14 April 2013 by Mel1206 @mel1206
This past week was spring break.  I had my lovely daughter home with me all week and we had a lot of fun working on craft projects, but I got so behind in my blogging and networking.

As the week was winding down I thought, “Oh yay! Things will get back to normal, at least until summer,” until my husband approached me about working part time at his office.  His office needs someone astute in computers to do some data entry on a part time basis.  The company will be flexible about my daughter’s school schedule so I don’t have to hand what ever I make straight over to day care.  How could I refuse?
So I thought, as I usually do, “Oh crap.”  I need to make a game plan!!  I need to get back into my scheduling; otherwise you guys will get half posts and hastened ideas without the appropriate amount of forethought.  I sure as heck am not going to give up my blogging, so I need to hit the calendar

I started by setting aside one hour (though I think I am going to have to make that 2 hours) every Sunday to work on my schedule.  While I have used the calendar with Google in the past, I am finding I really enjoy the look of the Outlook/Windows Live Calendar.  I also really like what they are doing with their free e-mail service now (outlook.com) and I am considering switching to them.  It syncs up well with my Android phone, so there is no concerns about that.

First thing I did was look through my blogging ideas and set up dates I wanted each post to show up.  See I am a big fan of pre-writing as much as possible.  What I mean by that is I write a post, then set it up to be visible on my blog at a later date and time.

Once my topics for each day were considered, I then chose a couple blocks of time to set aside for writing.  For the most part this is on a Sunday, but depending on my topics, I know I need to set aside some time at least on Monday – and from there I can schedule more.
Because I set up to write all of my posts at the beginning of each week any surprises that happen later in the week won’t affect my posts, just my networking and twitter parties which are variable items anyway.  Now I am ready for anything!
