Today and tomorrow are two of the busiest travels day of the year. As millions of Americans take to the roads, rails, and skies it's important to remember the number one rule of travel - be kind.
I know there's a lot going on over the next few days. You have places to be, people to meet, and food to prepare. The stress is real and the tension is high. Here's the thing though, the same can be said for everyone else around you. Why not make their trip (and yours) a little better with some kindness?
I promise it doesn't take much. Show some patience when the family in front of you is struggling to get through security. Maybe even offer to help. Let someone merge in front of you on the highway. Switch seats for the couple who can't find two seats together.
To those who aren't going far at all, don't think you're getting out of this. Give your seat on the bus or train to someone who needs it more. Offer to help someone with their luggage.
Remember, even though our destinations might be different, we're all on this journey together. It's going to take a little longer to get where you're going. Kindness, at the very least, won't make it feel longer.
Safe travels to all. May it take no longer than it has to, and feel shorter than it takes.
