Smitten By The English Language

English is my second language. I’m not very good at it – heck there’s a lot of individuals out there with a huge vocabulary of highfalutin words, and even some with curses and swearing to reiterate their points – but I love using English as my primary means of writing or communicating with my readers.

Kapag Tagalog naman kasi ang ginamit ko, mas madalas ay parang tumutula ako. Bawat lumalabas sa aking pananalita, ay tila matalinghaga at tumutugma-tugma. Ewan ko kung ito ay aking sinasadya, kasi pakiramdam ko ay isa akong makata.

There’s no doubt about it, I love writing. Writing as a fish breathes water I swim with sentences, sample from a buffet of words, and play with the depths of my imagination – if ever there’s enough of it to go craft myself a literary masterpiece.

I write for my audience, from humans (some call them customers, clients or users) to robots (they have strange names like Google, Yahoo and Bing). There is even a scientific nature to writing – that’s what we call grammar, structure, plotting and crafting. I use the tools I was taught about in Creative Writing seminars and the tricks I’ve learned in several years of working for multi-nationals and corporations, whether part-time or full-time, online or breathe-in-your-face arrangements.

I consider my wordsmithing as a talent and has enabled me to gain recognition, invitation to events and generous incentives. However, I write not for those perks and privileges. I write because it gives me absolute creative pleasure. My writing gives me a rhythmic mood and a sound mind. That’s what makes it so enjoyable to write. It’s definitely my passion.

I want to make a message unique; I want to make it memorable. Persuasive. Punchy. Powerful.

I must admit that there have been several attempts to plagiarize, but only for reasons it was difficult to keep track of the original author or owner of such compelling words. I try my best to revise, but their words are simply enchanting. Would it hurt if I just “Tagalize”? – Tito Sotto

I am a novelist, a proof reader, a blogger, an editor and could become an imaginative dreamer with multiple personalities, or a cross-breed of many wannabe creatures of literature, if required.

Selling a product? SOLD. Marketing a message? BRANDED. Offering a service? HIRED. Hiring a writer? DONE.

Who am I kidding? I’m just a second-rate trying hard copy-paste!
