Sports Weekend Recap

Posted on the 30 September 2013 by Lifeofasportswife @jessaolson

After talking with Sara from You.And.Me.Are.We, I decided to give a weekly recap of what happened in sports.

MLB

It's the final regular season weekend. Tonight is a one game playoff: Texas Rangers vs. Tampa Bay Rays! (I'm hoping for the Rangers.) Next 10 teams play for a chance to win the World Series Trophy.
Sports Weekend Recap
Another HUGE event was the Sandman's last game. Don't know who the Sandman is: Mariano Rivera. He is the last man in the MLB wearing Jackie Robinson's number. On Thursday he pitched his last game, and to be taken out of the game he had fellow teammates Andy Pettitte and Derek Jeter. This is the first time in history that a player has taken another player out of the game. Watching this on Friday morning gave me goosebumps.

Rivera finished with record saves totals of 652 in the regular season and 42 (also his number) in the postseason. He had an 82-60 record with a 2.21 ERA during the regular season over 19 years, and an 8-1 record with an 0.70 ERA in 96 postseason games. On the very last day, Henderson Alverez had a no hitter. No hitter means no one got hit to get base. A Perfect game is 27 straight outs!  NCAA College Football Lane Kiffin got fired after a loss to Arizona State. According to reports, the AD made the decision during the 3 quarter of the game.  Arizona State is now in the Top 25, and Notre Dame is out. Ironic because they play each other this weekend in Dallas, Texas.  NFL Peyton Manning has thrown for 16 touchdown (TD) passes in the first month of the season. This is more than any other quarterback.  Kansas City Chiefs are 4-0. It's been a while since that has a happened.  That's all that I can think of right now.  What sports do you watch?
